Dear Friends and Family:

Recent Tragic Events, 2005
It is with respect and with a tremendous amount of faith that I write to let you know that this will be the final season for Uma for the foreseeable future. We selected Faith Healer and Orange Lemon Egg Canary for this season, mostly because this needed to be a season of faith for us as a company. Those of us who run Uma have worked hard to keep our financial and fundraising success at the level of the artistic dreams we have for our organization. As many of you know, the non-profit world is a challenge, and now is our time to stop this beautiful collaboration, at a time when we can be truly proud of all we have accomplished. We can strengthen where we are individually, knowing that there will be a time for us all to come back together again with more resources.

As the years have progressed the "Umavironment," for which we have become famous, has undeniably become my life's work... but the funny thing is: that term now speaks to the truly supportive and surrounding company environment that has grown as well. This has led Uma to be what we are today: our company members, artists, mentors, sponsors, board, and most treasured of all: you, our audience.

I have been fortunate enough to have founded a company six years ago that exceeded my hopes and dreams. I realized who I strive everyday to be as a director and who I strive everyday to be as an artistic leader, and now it is time to move on to newer, scarier pastures. But I will see you again, moreover we will see you again. You will see Uma company members leading many of Chicago's theaters, on the country's stages and beyond, and please know that as we thrive in all of those places, there is an incredibly special place in our hearts for you and all you've given us these past six years.

Violet Hour, 2006
We are currently raising the money to close out our books in the black. We have always ended in the black before, and we are so very, very close to that now. We are almost there--anything than you can give at this point, however small would matter a great deal and help us towards our goal of closing out debt-free. You can donate by clicking the button at the bottom of this page. Also, feel free to ask us any questions by emailing info@umaproductions.org. We are not quite ready to give up our email addresses and site just yet.

Don't worry - we will keep you up to date on all of our exciting new adventures. Thank you to our donors, our sponsors, our artists, our board, and our audience. See you 'round the Umavironment.

Sincerely,
Mikhael Tara Garver
